    December 25, 2011 - Moreana Vol. 48 - 185-186

This issue is rich in poetry and the presence of Fortune. She appears in no fewer than three studies about Thomas More’s Fortune Verses.  And in this poetical issue you will discover the whole gamut of human emotions, from life to humor to death. Nathalie Catellani-Dufrêne proposes an analysis and a French translation of the Latin poem Funera, which Jean Second wrote after the death of Thomas More.  Susan McLean, in a lighter key, offers her poetical rendering of More’s Latin epigrams.  Carle Mock proposes a new comprehensive vision of More’s Fortune Verses and cites H.S. Herbrüggen’s study, which Amos Hunt translates. Gabriela Schmidt, by examining More the translator and the imitator, crosses some of the same paths, creating a pleasant echo within this issue.

    July 10, 2011 - Moreana Vol. 48, 183-184

Moreana 183-184, of June 2011, publishes the studies presented at the Dallas Center for Thomas More Studies in November 2010, during the Conference on “Thomas More’s influence on William Shakespeare”. The papers address and review a number of connections between More and Shakespeare. The works explored are essentially More’s History of Richard III, Shakespeare’s trilogy: 1-3 Henry VI, Richard III, as well as the play Sir Thomas More (or The Book of Sir Thomas More) in which Shakespeare participated. Utopia is not forgotten in this issue; Utopian names have been scrutinized once more and a novel interpretation proposed. This Moreana also explores the topic of Providence vs. Fortuna in Thomas More.
